I’m the proud new owner of an ’89 Oceanis 350. I believe my boat is one of the French built versions as all the hardware is European, Goiot, Amiot, etc. My question has to do with the electrical panel. On the far right, the second switch, (button) down says, “cabin comfort”. What does this switch control? The broker I bought the boat from told me it was a sump pump for the shower, but I believe this water drains into the bilge. I’ve tried turning it on and off and have yet to figure out what it controls. There is no central heat or a/c, which would definitely make the cabin more comfortable. At this point in time I’m curious as much as anything so if you know what this switch controls, I’d appreciate it if you’d share that information with me. Fair winds.

I suspect that it is a spare, and you can wire optional equipment into it, such as FM Radio or CD player. My Propane cut off is wired through this also. Be aware that there is a low voltage trip on these switches, so if your battery voltage gets below 11 V, the pannel trips all the switches to protect from further discharge. i.e. all circuits go dead suddenly (surprising when it happens) Usually, this means you can turn the lights back on, but need to avoid turning the high-load items again, or it will trip again. So anything you wire through the switches on the panel may be switched off automatically when the voltage gets too low.

On my 1993 OC 350 the comfort switch operates the circuit for the fans around the boat. It could be used for anything else, just remember what you wire to it!!!! Stay cool, Marc

In my '91 OC 390, it's for the shower sump. There are push buttons (with some other meaningless label) in the shower and the fwd. head to operate the pump, but it only works if this switch is on. I have 3 pumps, bilge, water and sump. The wiring is all labeled with numbered tape which makes tracing the wires back to the panel fairly easy. The only water that drains into the bilge is from the aft head.

Every panel is different. My guess is this is where they would have wired the a/c, heat, or fans. If you pull the panel, are there wires on the switch and if there are just trace them.
