"Cabin bags"

Hey, I want to add some "storage" to the vberth and aft cabin for people to put stuff while on board, and I'm looking at the Blue Performance cabin bags.

There is room in each cabin, in the vberth on the bulkhead and in the aft cabin next to the companionway stairs. Both areas are wood and will fit either of the two sizes Blue Performance has.

I'm looking for any other suggestions on bags and also if anyone has a good way to hang them without screwing directly in to the wood. I've got a couple of the small cockpit bags attached to the non-wood walls in the cabins using industrial velcro (I had to glue it to the back of the bag), but that will definitely take the finish off the wood if I needed to remove it.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks! Brian

I have a Blue mast sheet bag that I picked up on a whim to organize some lines. 3 years in the sun (year round) and they have proven to be well made and tough.

I use BP bags in the cockpit of BlueJ; good stuff.

Inside, there has been lots of ideas recently on how to manage soft luggage in cabins. The idea is to hang bring-aboard luggage. You pack it at home, and bring it on. Beneteau and Elan both have bags that hang on rods mounted running along the wall. Tres clever.

They certainly have managed to pack a lot of storage in the pics you posted! I don't have a lot of storage space so I'm trying to make better use of what I do have. So far, besides the cabin bags in each cabin (thought I don't really count these as storage), I'm going to mount some milk crates under the vberth (there's room for two) to store cleaning supplies and extra parts/tools which will free up a cabinet, add some shelves in the two cabinets that don't have any, and I've made some gear hammocks which attach with suction cups. Hopefully that'll be enough!

Unfortunately, the convenience of having added storage leads to accumulation of "stuff" that finds its way aboard then never finds its way back to shore. Its just more organized.

I'm very familiar with that problem...at this point adding more storage will just allow me to move stuff in to a non-visible location rather than on the floor for example, where the milk crate with cleaning supplies currently lives. That is not to say that something won't take its place...but hopefully not.

I have those Blue Bags. I hang them from the wire tray that runs along the underside of the gunnel. S hooks on the bag grommets, then hung from the tray.
