I have recently purchased a Hunter 240 and would like to add shelves, gear bags, etc. to the inside. How do you mount things? I have tried industrial velcro and it either doesn't hold the weight or peels off in the summer heat. do you drill into the cabin liner? Maybe use those expansion bolts for sheetrock? I am also planning to make some minihammocks for the v-berth to hold personal items. I'm needing ideas or suggestions.........

Suction cups

I use basket with suction cups and hooks with suction cups These have worked well for me. My wife will not let me drill into the headliner.

Drilling into the liner was a bit nerve wracking at first, but it ain't so bad if you use a REALLY short drill bit and short screws. I've added quite a few accessories to my 240 over the last 2 years (some of them gleaned from posting here on this site) and have plenty more to go. Both West Marine and Boat U.S. sell gear bags in various sizes (I think they're actually called Davis Sticky Bags) with suction cups and pockets and everything. The neatest thing in the world although I have since taken the suction cups off one of them and mounted it directly to the bulkhead. For a few on my ideas, check out the link below.

Installing Accessories

It is OK to bore holes in the innerliner, but with some care. I made a shelf with a divider for my daughters. It rests on two strips of wood glued to the hull and covered with the original soft mat. I also mounted "rails" on booth sides, I bored in the curved part of the innerliner and screwed with stainless screws. You have to be rather exact in you choise of drill diameter not to brake the GRP. Many small screws ar better than a few big ones. My wife sew some bags to hang under the rail, works great. I also made drawers in the big locker under the v-berth.
