C42 vs C42 MkII

I'm looking to buy a 1993 C42 and I've noticed there's a lot more info here on the MkII. Does anyone know when the C42 was discontinued in favor of the MkII? Are there any major differences (should I be looking for a MkII instead)? And, of course, any advice on particular problems to look out for would be much appreciated.

The Changeover

According to the C42 website, the Mark II was introduced in 1995, and there have been numerous small changes. The major change were the "carrying of the beam further aft with a subsequent enlargement of the cockpit and a larger transom with softer lines." You might want to check out more details at www.catalina42.org.The biggest differneces are between the two and three cabin models, and then with the 2001 models, there is now a centerline queen version.Good Luck hunting!

I bought an MKII

We carefully evaluated both models and bought a 1995 MKII 2 cabin. Much roomier in the cockpit and beam carried well aft. One or the other, find the one that makes your heart beat harder!! Good luck.
