I am recent new owner of 1996 C320 which came w/ a little used North sails spinnaker probably original option which is in great shape. Flew it for first time recently and it seemed pretty happy from 100-170. It is a socked assym rigged to fly just forward of the forestay w/ an ATN like sleeve. I am curious whether anyone here has a good idea of its design AWA? Have raced this boat under white sails only just a couple times, pleased with handling vs rating, considering some races under spinnaker and building my expectations. Any advice welcomed. Thanks

what weight is the spinnaker?
what does AWA mean?
Apparent wind angle, usually a target range by designer. It seems pretty light but that is subjective, I don't have specs on the cloth, hence wondering if there was a stock option for original owners somebody here might recall. There are plenty available after, but many options from many makers.

you can change the shape of the sail as needed with the down haul. deep off the wind you'll ease the downhaul and get that sail flying high and wrapping around the front of the head stay to the clean air to the windward side of the mainsail, also getting the radial head to fly in clean air. tighter on the wind you pull the sail down to control the leading edge more. always fly the sail as high as you can, way high for speed. radial heads have great lift if flown very high. they are called kites cause they should be way up in the sky. most people use way to much down haul.

you prolly have 3/4 oz cloth, good to say 12 to 14 ap wind.

I'm going to suggest that there is no "stock" assym spinnaker for our boat. There are probably at least 4 different cuts for assyms depending upon the application and a variety of materials as well, deeper cut for deeper angles, flatter cut for higher angles. I'd suggest that yours is probably an all-around cruising Code 0 for 80 to 150 degrees. That would be the safe bet. Only the previous owner, or maybe North, could tell you! If there isn't a bowsprit pole and you are using an ATN sleeve, I think it would be a pretty good bet that it is an all-purpose assym head sail.

Sounds like it is fun to use! I don't have one but want one asap!
