C30 offshore
Simplest answer is to consider taking a look at John Vigor's book "Twenty Small Sailboats to Take You Anywhere". The book has a section on a Catalina 27 that was modified by Patrick Childress for offshore and what was done to the boat. Also look at the Good Old Boat magazine article in the recent past (year or so) on the C27, especially the offshore modifications. I haven't seen any articles detailing the C30, but the 27 and 30 are similar (big cockpit not good for offshore, small slow-draining cockpit scuppers, big companionway not good for offshore, multiple hatchboards that could slip out, etc.).
