bed sheets

I have aC30 and we made sheets fo the vee birth by Cutting King sise bed sheet down on the sides alittle then sew them together for about 3' or so on eachside so they fit the fome with some room. Add draft to top sheet so your feet have plenty of room to move around. The flaps on the bottom get sewed tobether with elastic.I use velux blankets on board so they can be cut with a scissor and still look good and the bottom gets sewed together to the fit the bunk with some room. This set up cut down on the bed makeing time.and blanket steeling to.I started sewing for the first time when I bought my boat. Ive done allkinds of stuff the sheets where easy.It took about an hour on a rainy morning. Go for it.

Between the sheets

We have a local company that does basically what John did. But sheets were not sewn together. I think they only work on local boats because they insist on coming to your boat to measure the berths. They had us buy sheets of the quality and pattern we liked, then they cut to fit, with elastic all around on the bottom sheet that hugged the mattress (yes, mattress), and two elastic straps underneath, from one side to the other. I think they charged about $65 per birth (two sheets, top and bottom) for labor. Maybe there is a similiar company in your area.

No Sheets, but Matress Topper

We didn't buy any custom sheets, but what we did do is buy one of those closed cell elastomer matress toppers('NASA' foam) and cut it down to fit the V berth. What a nice change from the rock hard V berth cushions.

Mattress Topper

Sorry I took so long to respond. We got it at Costco. You may be able to order through Costco online if you don't have a store nearby. Good luck.

More on Mattress Topper

We discovered with a piece of eggshell foam, that if we cut two pieces for the v-berth (split lengthwise like the cushions), the same pieces fit the main cabin berth in our 1981 traditional interior C-30. By reversing one of the triangles you get a rectangle of just about the right shape and size.
