C27 water tank for sink

I just purchased a 1976 C27 and I am in the process of fixing and replacing several items. Can someone please tell me where the water tank for the sink is supposed to go? The supply hose from the sink currently runs into the ice box. If I put a tank in the ice box that won't leave much room for anything else. Thanks in advance for your help....Dave

Sink

On the Cat 27 the plumbing for the sink DRAIN is joined to the icebox DRAIN and they go to a common valve and thruhull under the galley. The thru hull and valve are behind the electrical panel and can be reached by removing the cushion from the port settee/bunk, opening the aft hatch and crawling into the foot of the bunk. To get water to the sink you need a tank and a pump. On TASHTEGO there is a small, foot-operated, diaphragm pump mounted near the cabin sole under the sink and the tank is under the aft part of the starboard settee/bunk. A hose runs through the engine compartment to the pump on the other side. Have a look under the starboard settee/bunk for a water tank and search around near the cabin sole for the foot pump. The foot pump is very, VERY difficult to work on. I had a ruptured diaphragm (in the pump and nearly in me) that I replaced after figuring out how to reach, much less work on, the pump. Which model

Do you have a dinette or standard layout? Outboard or inboard? That'll all make a difference where things are located. In my boat, for example, the tank is under the port settee. I've cut an access port under the galley to access the thru-hull. Garry explained already how the sink drain and ice box drains are routed together to one main discharge (NOT supply). I installed a deck fill fitting so I didn't have to drag a host through my boat to fill my water tank.LaDonna

It's an outboard with a standard layout

It is an outboard with a standard layout. Previous owner has taken out fixed head and put in portable one. My thought was to put the fixed head back in and run a supply line to the sink and head from the same freshwater tank. Or, put a separate smaller tank under the port setee down where the drain goes through the hull. Not, sure which would be best...Dave
