My new to me 1983 Cat 27 has a Wilcox, Crittenden Div manual head that I can't seem to get funtioning...it hasn't been used in many years.
I don't know where to start...I tried opening seacock, lifting lever on side of head, and pumping handle several times, but did not get bowl to fill at all.
Can any of you helpful Catalina owners help me to get my head funtioning again so that my girlfriend will go sailing with me?
Thank you for your comments and advice.:)

Probably needs a rebuild. The seals get brittle when they sit for a long time. W-C is out of business (bought by Thetford and product line discontinued), but rebuild kits are still available at WM, Defender, and from Thetford's website. I just replaced my OEM W-C Headmate after rebuilding it unsuccessfully (it still leaked), and will be happy to give you any useful parts you might need (your photo looks just like my Headmate). Feel free to PM.

We had a WC head for many, many years. If you expect the bowl to fill, the way it does at home, it ain't gonna happen.

Do you get water into the bowl at all?

there seems to be a very small amount of water remaining in the lowest part of bowl...but pumping metal handle dosen't seem to add any water to bowl.
Thank you for your follow-up

it would be nice to utilize your unused rebulid parts...not sure I could figure out how to install them. Did your old head have a metal pumping handle?
Thank you for your help

They discontinued this head a few years ago.

If it doesn't work for you, and if you can't find a rebuild kit then you should consider replacing it with a Raritan PHII.

You can keep your existing ceramic bowl and just get a new pump from Raritan, or just get a whole new head.

Not so hard to do. Probably worth it, ince your head is a goner as far as future parts are concerned.

John, thank you for your offer. I rechecked my Wilcox Critt head today and it is a Headmate, as you had thought.
I guess I should try to re-build it, although I know nothing about it.
I am not currently employed so utilizing your rebuild parts that you don't need anymore would be a huge help to me, what do you think?
