Need a new main sail for my recently purchased 1983 C 25. Where is the best place to purchase, and what can I expect to spend. I do not need anything fancy, just learning to sail. Thanks for any suggestions.

There are really three choices:
1 -- Catalina Yachts
2 -- Mail order sail loft, either new or used
3 -- local sailmaker
2 is usually less expensive, but little recourse if things don't fit or if you have something special
3 is usually a tad more expensive, but then you have the sailmaker right there

Not sure where you sail out of but in New England there are many "marine consignment" stores that you can get a pretty good bargain. In Wickford, RI we have a place www.marineconsignment.com They also have a location in Mystic CT. Try giving them a call. Who knows...they might ship?

You may be able to find a good used sail at North Sails. Another thing to do is to spread the word at your marina, you might get lucky.Stu Jackson said:
