Any owners of MKII or older C-22's have suggestion on swing, wing or fin keels? I'm a novice sailor fresh out of taking sailing lessons and I am looking at new C22's and was wondering about you guys' remarks on the different Keels. PS- trailoring it is not in issue, i am looking at more of a performance for a novice. I most likely keep it in a slip.

swing/fin keel

Brad I have an '84 swing keel and like it very much. Being new to the sailing thing also I REALLY like the fact that when I accidently run aground, I can simply crank up the keel and float away! Not that this has ever happened of course ;) Jason

DIFFERENT KEELS

I HAVE A WING KEEL-NICE FOR CLOSE TO SHORE & STILL MORE STABILITY (WEIGHT) THAN A SWING. I WAS FRIGHTENED BY ALL THE INFO ON FIXING-REPAIRING THE SWING & NOW HAVE MET FELLOW OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD TO WORK ON THEM. OBVIOUSLY THE SWING KEEL WORKS & HAS ITS ADVANTAGES (TRAILERING) THE FULL KEEL OFFERS THE MOST STABILITY AND WILL CONSEQUENTLY POINT HIGHEST INTO THE WIND OF THE 3 TYPES.
