I read the postings regarding what size vehicle to use towing a C22. I was hoping someone could give some numbers on the full up, head for the water, towing weight. Boat, trailer, cooler and all. Thanks, Jim

add 2/3 to it

i actually had to weight my oday 23 when i moved to a new state. the boat was listed at 3085 but the total trailer and equipment weight was 5200 lbs. thats with the water tank empty. dont forget the additional load that the ramp will add when choosing trailer size or tow vehicle. i used 8 cyl. 4x4 for with 6500lb tow package and yes the low range made life easier for me and the truck .i pulled a guy out with a large dually and a searay 27 who couldnt get up the ramp. maybe could have done it with out the4x4 but i had it . i have a cat 22 now and use a 4x4 f 150 with 6 cyl. trailer max's at 3400lb check the tire ratings on the trailer and get the highest you can on the rims. cheap insurance for a blowout.mg

C-22 weight

Jim; Many years ago I towed my C-22 with a '71 El Camino. It worked fine, but I had friends in the same club who towed theirs with a Toyota SR-5 4X4 and had no problems. The whole rig is actually pretty light. I took the rusted brakes out of my trailer and was glad I did it, since I launched in saltwater.

Towing in Middle Tenn.

Jim, I tow my C22 around middle Tn. with a Dodge Dakota. The job would be easier with a full size truck, but I get by with patience. The truck tows the load fine... the stopping capacity is far more important. I have surge brakes on all four wheels ( tandem axle trailer ), and when I have to stop, I don't even feel the trailer. If I had an older, single axle, un-braked trailer, I would be much more anxious about towing with an "undersized" truck. Now the disclaimer portion of the message; I am very comfortable driving with a trailer. If you have doubts, the larger/ more powerful your tow vehicle, the more likely you willl be able to comfortably tow your boat. I am glad to see your post from the home of the 82nd. Where do you sail? I am a member of C22 Fleet 52 representing Middle Tn. We currently have members from Percy Priest and Old Hickory Lakes (Nashville), and Woods Res. (Tullahoma). We re-activated the fleet in Jan., and would love to expand our membership to Clarksville. You can get in touch with us via rj_tazelaar@gspnet.com or e-mail me off list and I'll be glad to help you in any way I can. Kevin Baker
