Hi, I have a 1974 trailer that came with my 1974 C22. I need to locate the vin # on the trailer. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Moe

Trailer VIN

It *should* be on the A frame or the tongue towards the front part of the trailer. It is usually on a sticker with other 'official' information. A trailer of that age may have had the sticker disintegrate. If you cannot locate it, then you may have to do a little historical research. Also, the state that you are in may have a specific process for getting proper paperwork for what is known as a "salvage" trailer. This would be something that has lost identifying markings.

Vin #

Moe, I just went throught the same thing with my trailer, rust everywhere. Ted is correct about the location on the trailer...on a manufacturer's label somewhere near the hitch. My insurance agent could not put insurance on the boat(on trialer) or trailer without a vin #. I went to the NC tag/title office. They said that in such cases, the Highway Dept. would issue their own Vin # that I could have welded /etched on the trailer frame. I did just that. I would put the Vin # in a couple of places so that if my trailer goes home with somebody eles and they grind the #'s off....I would know where to look..should I see it again.

Missing VIN#

My boat came with a loadright galvinized trailer The orig vin number was to be on a aluminum stickon label that was totatly unreadable to the naked eye.I carefully peeled it off (dont tare it) Took it home and used some dye penatrent (used in the automotive industry to find cracks in engine blocks) Wiped it on and then used a madnifying glass to read the numbers It worked. I then stamped the number on the top of the tongue
