Hi,

I have narrowed down my boat choices to either a c&c 34 1981 or 1982 vintage or a c&c 35 mk2.

There is possibility to get a c&c 36 of the same vintage.

I was leaning to the 34 because of some youtube videos but I've been reading on the 35. Assuming similar conditions would you have a strong preference of one over the other? Why?

Is there any noticeable size differences between the boats or differences in the way they sail?? Any other thoughts?

First time writing here. All opinions much appreciated

I used to own a 34. Some thoughts.

Any 34 will be at least 10-15 years newer than any 35. That matters.

The 34 also looks much more modern, with a flatter shear, more modern keel and rudder, and overall hull shape.

The 35 has a SOLID hull. the 34 is CORED. A survey on the 34 is a must, and have the hull checked carefully for wet areas.

Downstairs, all C&Cs look the same, from 29 to 40 feet. Just more room.

Neither the 34 or 35mk2 were considered 'great sailing C&Cs'. OK, but not on the top shelf.

Boats are old. But you are in the home of C&C, so you will find lots of support.

Thanks Jack for the quick reply. Some good observations for sure. You mentioned that neither the 34 or 35 were considered great sailing c&cs. Which C&C model/year would you prefer of that vintage (of course I would jump a new model if I could afford it)?

Thanks again for your reply.

First, you will be happy with any of them, they sail much better than a Oday, Catalina, etc of that day. My comments were from a racing perspective, or sailing in marginal conditions (downwind under spinnaker in a breeze). The 34 (like the original 29) is rather tender.

That being said, the C&C 36 a sweet boat.
