The bolt that holds our wheel flew off and the wheel came off with it mid sail. We saved the wheel but the "nut" that holds the wheel in place went missing. Any idea where we can find a replacement nut for the wheel? Does not have to be original manufacturer .. anything will work. Thanks.

I dunno which pedestal you have but I do know that they sometimes used a company different from Edison or Merriman.. Nevertheless, Greg is right on...Ya have to measure the thread diameter and pitch to figure out what ya need.. the Edson nuts are expensive, (~$70) but are well made and look great..You could go to a fastener supplier and get a new stainless nut for a good but less (~$8), but it would not look quite right..

I believe it is a standard 1"-8 threaded nut.

As a temporary measure, take a zip tie and cinch it up tight against the wheel. That should help keep it in place.

Edson also makes a large, knurled nut - really a knob - so you can take it off by hand to stow the wheel. And since these are expensive and subject to theft, I also always carry a spare, standard nut. :)

Search for “boat wheel steering cap nuts”.
You’ll find a few. You will need the size of the bolt as @Tally Ho identifies the big issue.

Yacht Specialties was a popular brand for your size of boat. They shutdown long ago.
