Inspecting a C&C 27 with the intent to purchase today and noticed identical depressions on the hull on both port and starboard sides below where the aft/lower shrouds attach. The boat had been recently surveyed but there was no mention of bulkhead damage. Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum!!

Photos on the depressions would be helpful. If it was my boat purchase I would ask the boatyard for their indpendent inspection and any recommended repair fix with an estimate. Depending on the repair cost go back to the seller with a request for a "repair allowance" as a crediut off the purchase price assuming it is repairable.

Are the depressions where the off season stands may have been placed? Some marinas over-tighten the stands, not understanding that they are only needed to balance and not support the boat which is resting on the keel.

Most likely these would be dimples caused by over-tensioning the rigging. If you back off the rigging and mostly the dimples will persist and then it becomes a question for the surveyor as to whether they are a cosmetic issue or more. Dimples under the chainplates have been a common feature in boats raced hard.
