Sirius Weather

We added Sirius Weather to our Raymaine E 80. Works very well though it takes a few minutes to update after you power up the system. The text reports are OK but what I really like is the wind direction graphics and the storm tracking graphic. You can track storms anywhere in the country and well offshore. The graphic also indicates the direction and speed that the storm is moving. You can customize the system to suit your specific data needs including water temps, wave heights wind velocities etc. Well worth it if you are planning an off shore trip. As we both live here in the Northeast you can suspend your subsciption on a seasonal basis for up to 5 months without having to pay an activation fee each season.

Long Island

Spent a long weekend in Sag Harbor just after Labor Day. Stayed on a mooring in the Harbor. We rented a car at the airport and drove around to the North Shore to visit the wineries. The area has changed since we moved out of Rocky Point in 1990. The wineries are excellent though my wife misses the potatoe fields and roadside veggie stands. Something about 3 heads of cauliflower for $1.00. The boats in Sag Harbor are unbelievable. Don't know where the money comes from. Overall we had a great time and will probably do it again next year though we may elect to stay in one of the Shelter Island harbors. Already thinking about next year and we haven't even put the boat away for this winter. Life is definately good.
