C-80 calibration

The "internal" compass on my new C-80 is off about 20 degrees or so from my handheld gps which agrees with my ships compass....the gps display on the C-80 is ok, but the compass steering bar at the top of one of the screens which has a linear compass with ships heading and waypoint is off..also the internal clock is 4 hours off (I am EDT)...any suggestions? Can't find a calibration screen other than the one that controls units, not numbers...

Remember GPS is True and your compass is magnetic. On my C90w I had to set mine to Magnetic (I think it was on the system page) so the S1 AuotPilot and real compass would jibe to it. It was only off by ~8deg. though.

I'm going through something similar with my newly installed C-70. Only I noticed today that the most significant misalignment occurs when the motor is running. I followed the procedure in the manual for swinging the compass for the ST4000 autopilot, and now there seems to be a couple of degrees difference between the ST4000 and the C-70, and a couple more between the electronic instruments and the ship's companss... I'm still tracking things down in the manual on how to handle the compass set up with the C-70... There is a "compass setup" item in the C-70 menu system, but so far that menu item has been a dead end (nothing actually do "do" once "compass setup" is selected).

The manual also mentions that the fluxgate compass can be located too close to things like the alternator, which is a possibility in my case.

On the time zone, there is a menu item/setting (under "System Setup"?) to choose your appropriate time zone offset from UTC.

Make sure all settings are either magnetic or true...easy to do on the C80 or any other GPS. Also if everything is set on magnetic there could be a difference if your are moored near a steel seawall. I have a side mooring against a steel sheet pile sea wall and it definitely affects my compass.

By the way, the latest generic I have seen for the C80 is 4.2.9 .

Try calling Raymarine tech I have found them extremely very helpful in walking you through correcting any problems,you must be at the boat with your unit and they will tell what you what to do on the unit to help him and you find the problem.
Check to make sure the fluxgate is not next to any metal and recommended some place in rear centerline away from any metal equipment of any type.
I have called Raymarine many times to help me even after reading the manual over and over,but they have always helped me correct things that I could not figure out on my own,they are very good at what they do.
Some times I get lazy and just call for which in turn really helps me understand how to use all the great features my C-80 has,still learning every day.
