C-34 at Torrey Pines

Right before the last commercial(1629 EST) on the golf tourney the camera caught a Catalina 34 going north. Really moving with main alone and sheeted in it was obviously motor-sailing. :) One of our SBO members maybe?

Amazingly with HD that 'C34' stands right out.

No, I can't remember seeing one. About ten minutes later CBS spotted it going south. Now they were sailing, very slowly, with the genny.

The boat probably came up from Mission Bay. Its abt a 1-1.5 hour motorsail up to Torrey from Mission. I watched the golf tournament it didnt look like much wind today.

There is a measured mile course with range markers on the torrey pines cliffs. Perhaps he was calibrating his speedo (or swinging his compass). Or maybe he just wanted to get on T.V. or retrieve some errant golf balls. Wonder if he distracted Phil.
