The original shaft for my C-30 "Finally" looks to be made of bronze. It has since changed to pink and sounds very dull. Needless to say sounds like I need a new shaft. Has anyone recently replaced the shaft in thier boat with a stainless steel shaft and where was it purchased. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Shaft Replacement

I had my C-30 re-shafted in July this year. We started off trying to find a bronze shaft (which Catalina does not make any longer) and ended up with a SS shaft and coupling. You'll want to stay with either all bronze or all SS for the shaft and coupling due to the problems with disimilar metals. It took the yard less than a day to install. Of course you may also want to relace your cutlass bearing while your changing the shaft. We were able to procure the shaft an the coupling from Catalina Yachts in Woodland Hills, CA. Good luck, Jack
