Hi there I have been crawling around the boat the past couple of days and noticed that under the cockpit floor in the bilge is a lot of storage space. My Bilge is desert dry so my real question is how best to access this space. My first thought was to cut a hatch into the cockpit floor but I am very leery about cutting holes in my boat and thought I would ask what everyone else is doing with this space. Looks like to much room to pass up. It would be perfect for my inflatable or possible to build an anchor locker into as I always drop anchor from the cockpit and walk the rode up to the bow. It would also keep the weight of the anchor down low next to t he keel. What do you think folks.

My opinion, don't cut any holes in the outside deck or cockpit areas. The more holes the more places water can get into the boat. That area in my Catalina 22 is too hard to gain access to. In my 1970 Catalina there is a place under the quarter berth that has no use what so ever. Being a murphy's Law person, When something goes wrong, the item I need will be in the place that will take me hours to get to. The only way to gain access to that area is through the seat back of the dinette. Fair winds. AL
