Here is a photo of a 33 ft2 headsail, hanked on next to full main for size comparison. There are raked reefpoints in the foot of the sail to reduce to 20 ft2. It has a lanyard on the tack to raise the sail area even with the mainsail for a slot effect. The color is international orange. Don't ask how it works though, I have thankfully never been out in anything (so far) that would test any limits. The idea is that with 33 ft2 headsail and reefed mainsail of about 70+ ft2, the combination is one half the sail area, balanced, of a conventionally rigged C-22, and the theory is that you can go up two levels on the beaufort scale with this rig, or to F7.

It looks nice

Tom: That looks nice. It looks like your storm jib might be a little bigger than ours, and there have been times that I have wished ours was little bigger, or that I had a jib between the storm jib and the working jib. I also raised my jib off the deck to get the air over the main. When you get to use this sail, you will really appreciate it because you will still be able to point. If you were trying to sail with just the main, you would be slipping sideways. The jib will give you the lift you need, and the tiller will be easy to handle. I know that I gave it plenty of thought about the size of the storm jib, before I purchased one. Thanks for showing us the photo. Aldo
