BVIs second time around.

I've booked a Cat with Sunsail next yr out of Tortola for 10 days. My first and only time down there was about 10 yrs ago. Of course we had a gas, hit all the "must see" stops. Since then we've been fortunate to bareboat many other places around the world. My question is for those who "frequent" BVIs, can you share any secret haunts or places that the guide books might miss. I'm not sure if I need to go back to the Willie T's again...... What about the US Virgins? I assume I can go over there?

Checking in and out of the 2 countries wasted a lot of time for us. I would not do it again.

Hi Bob, We have been to the BVI 10+ times in the past 15 years. There are a couple sort of out of the way semi-hidden places. But, like the old saying goes, if I told you about them then they wouldn't be hidden anymore! We have gone to the USVI (mostly St John) many times and would highly recommend it. Yes it does take time to check out and check in, so you need to plan for that. But there are some really great anchorages there that are worth it in my opinion.

we have been there the last 2 years and are going to Grenada instead this year in a few weeks.

we didn't goto the usvi when we were there because of the customs and didn't really want "that" vibe. We wanted the more relaxed and secluded spots than the glitz and glamour.

the spots that stand out is Jos van dyke, the Indians and the rock formations (can't remember name at the moment). Nothing that the travel guides dont already recommend so sorry if this post doesnt do much for you. I'd recommend bringing bug spray though. We noticed that some sides of the islands have problems with bugs and we got eaten up. I'm sure you'll have a genset and air conditioning so what a treat!
