BVIs - Bobby's Marketplace?

Heading to the BVIs in about 10 days for a week with another couple on a 40 footer -- I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas. This is our first trip there and it's something I've been wanting to do for about 20 years.

We were thinking about ordering from Bobby's and having them deliver the snacks, beer, food, etc. to the boat.

Anybody have any experience with Bobby's? Is it better to go to the store and choose the stuff yourself? Is there a better place to get food and drink?

Our plan is to have breakfast and snacks aboard for lunch and have dinner on the various places we'll be as we move up the Channel.

Would love thoughts on Bobby's or our thinking about eating and drinking from those of you have done this before. Thanks.

I used Bobby's and was fairly satisfied. Pre-order all the generic stuff you know you will need(drinks, water, cereals, crackers,cookies, pastas, etc). Then go shopping when you get there for any fresh items. Drivers will be available to take you there and back.

Good plan to do breakfast and lunch on board and go to shore for dinner. It is pricey though. Expect to pay upwards of $60 per couple.

Steve, I agree with Tim. When we did it a couple years ago, we definitely ordered all the liquor and bottled water and had that delivered. There is a grocery store within walking distance of the Moorings/Footloose landing -- can't remember the name of it. The fresh stuff didn't look all that great, so you definitely want to pick it out yourself. We also brought a few things with us, like a roll of ziplock baggies of a couple sizes. You won't need a whole package, so why buy them down there? We also only planned to cook breakfast, lunch and cocktail appetizers on the boat and ate dinners on land.
We found Bobby's to be extremely easy to work with. They had a spreadsheet with tons of things to select. They were very thorough in delivering a complete order.

I agree with Tim also. We have used Bobby's several times and have had good luck. But I agree that you should go to the store and pick your own fruits and vegtables. That is how we have been the most successful.

Your plan for breakfast and lunch onboard and dinner on shore is the exact way we have done in our trips to the BVI. The restaurants on each of the islands are a very nice end of a great day of sailing.

You won't be disappointed with your trip.

We are provisioning through Moorings for 5 breakfast/lunches, two dinners. Get the water in gallon jugs- the bottles are expensive. At the docks, 20 cents a gallon is what we hear. Other than Tuesday night at slips at Bitter End YC, the 8 boats will do their own thing. The Pub there has good prices. If you hear "Whisker Pole" (our news letter) on the VHF, that'll be our boats. BTW, the nicest market(http://www.harbourmarket.com/) in the area is over at Sopers Hole. It is brand new and all of their stock is fantastic. If you can get them to come get you, I would do all my fresh food provisioning over there.
