Hi all

We chartered the BVI's a couple of years ago. Found the cruising very relaxing and are looking for some other great locations to sail. We have been sailing for 10 years and do not mind more aggressive conditions.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Caliber 40 Long Range Cruiser Portland, Maine
We enjoyed the Abacos a few years ago(2005). We did a 10 day charter out of Moorings. A little more challenging(navigation wise) but more protected waters.

See my photo website in my signature for some photos and feel free to email me for info.

Also, one of the differences I noticed between the Abacos and BVIs is that the majority of the boats in the Abacos were full time cruisers with a couple of charter boats in the anchorages. The BVIs was the opposite. Huge number of charter boats being driven by just about anyone. I cannot believe they still require a sailing resume considering some of the idiots I saw on the dock and in the harbors.

I overheard a bareboat briefing where the "skipper" wanted confirmation that the keel was the bottom of the boat. We saw them sailing the next day and it was scary.

If you want an absolutely beautifull and interesting place to charter, look at Penobscott Bay, Maine. Late August or early September are the best times for wind and weather.

Grenadines

I went to the Grenadines last june and had a great time,we had a captain and cook on 46 cat with Moorings.
Some friends had already set it up and than asked to join them, also was another couple that no one new but were very nice, eat and drank on the boat all the time and stop off on different Islands during the trip.
My other computer with all the photo's is not working so can't show all the great shot's,but had a great time, hot and quiet in june not much to do on land but the sailing was great and plenty of nice snorkeling, even caught fish for dinner on the grill which the cook did it all with desert every night, plenty of beverages, very relaxing no pressure the captain did all and we help if you wanted to.
The captain and cook were native to the Islands so they new it all and where to go and what options to do,did not need to eat out any where the food and service on the boat was great, mostly anchored out off beach Island, weather was great but very hot in june,we all got great tans and did a lot of in water when not sailing.
