I had been planning a possible bareboat to BVI/Grenadines this spring, but after this horrible hurricane season I'm wondering how they faired? Seeing those poor folks and the devastation in florida and what they've been thru I'm wondering if theres anything left in the BVI/Grenadines. Has anyone heard?

Damage in the Greadines

According to the news I have been following up to 90% of the private homes have been damaged and many if not all of the governmental building have sustained damage in Grenada. I can't speak for the charter companies about their damages of course but I'm sure any tourist dollars that can flow into the island will help. We are hoping to go back as soon as we can. Gremada is our favorite destination.

I think Moorings lost their fleet (Canouan). They sent their boats to Granada to get out of Ivan. The fleet in Blue Lagoon (St. Vincent) is ok. There's some damage in some of the various islands but I expect the remaining boats and the locals will need your business. Check with whoever you're going to charter from. Might be a bit quieter there this spring.

Has anyone heard how this area is doing after both hurricane Frances & Jeanne? Any predictions on how this area may be for spring charters.

Grenada - Ironic

Both Sail and the BoatUS magazine had recent articles on Grenada as a hot location, and a safe hurricane location. Ironic and sad that they get devastated with all the positive press.

We were in contact with Barefoot Yacht Charter in Blue Lagoon. Their fleet is OK. Most houses on the island sustained damage.
