I am thinking of chartering a sailboat with BVI Yacht Charters in February 06. Does anyone have any comments about the company such as the condition of their boats and their general service?

I have a fiend with a Benneteau 411 in Nanny Cay. He charterers it . It is 1999 model. goole "upper bay sailing"

BVI Yacht Chartyers

All the larger BVI bareboaters have a decent reputation. It's just a pricey place to do business. I've had luck with Horizon, but while out we ran into a few BVI Yacht Charter folks and they had no complaints.

Check out Sunsail

Had a great experience with Sunsail 2 years ago. The boat was in excellent condition and the staff were first rate. Would use them again in a minute. Check their pricing, they offer discounted rates for several weeks in season so if you are flexible you can save $$$

Experience with several of the BVI outfits

Over the years, we've chartered both in the BVI's and Antigua. Generally, the top-tiers are good (Sunsail, Moorings, etc). The best deals are with the good 2nd tier groups. The boats are sometimes alittle older, but the fleets are smaller and staff more attentive. The keys are boat maintenance, staff, and convenience. BVI Yacht Charters was absolutely great. We got a personalized skippers meeting (no need to wait for the next scheduled one like others), the staff is fantastic, and the boat was very close to last-minute provisioning. The others were good, but we'll be back to BVIYC because of the value. -David
