We are heading to the BVI next week for our first charter experience in the BVI. Can any of you experienced BVI sailors recommend some good snorkeling locations? Thank you for any help.

The Caves are one of the best...as many others. We went there twice, the last time in March and always have fun....great sailing, and way too many drinks. I just returned from the BVI for two weeks, chartered from sunsail. You need to go to Traveltalkonline.com and they will answer any questions you have about the BVI. Make sure you go to the BVI web fourm, It's a wonderful web site for travels all over the world...You will enjoy! Have fun on your trip... Katie

Best BVI snorkeling
We've been there six times and are going again in June. Our favorite snorkeling is Cistern Pt. Anchor at Manchioneel Bay on Cooper Island and take the dinghy down to the conspicuous pointed rock that marks Cistern Pt. SUPERB snorkeling with many fish. You can swim completely around the rock (watch for fire coral). Also don't miss the Indians just outside the Bight at Norman Island. They have day-use moorings. Tie up and enjoy. One often overlooked spot is just outside the entrance to the anchorage on Norman Island. There is a sheer wall on the west side of the entrance to the anchorage that has outstanding water. There is an excellent underwater wall about 20 yards off the sheer drop that makes a hallway-excellent fish and coral when the light is good. There are also a couple of caves in this area. Best to not try this late in the afternoon, as the light does not provide as good a view.

Marina Cay has little to see, but snorkling off the beach in protected waters, with a shallow sandy bottom, is a great place to get your crew to practice with gear before going anywhere else.

North east from the Marina Cay dinghy dock is a good snorkling spot with moorings for Dinghy's, 5 minute dinghy drive to the north east against the shore of the next island. This is more advanced, as there is a current involved.
