Private Lessons
MarcI'm sure some of the schools will accomodate private lessons, but at a substantially increased cost. You are basically chartering the boat and skipper for the lessons. If you're going to be at that cost level anyway, consider just doing a "captained charter" (vs. "bare boat") and enjoy the cruise for a week. These Captains all have to be licensed, so try to find one where the Captain is also an ASA certified instructor & work with them to cover all of the course material & sea-time for the certification. Make sure they will issue the properly validated training certificate(s) upon completion. And, if someday you might want to go for a USCG license, ask for a notarized letter or USCG Form CG-866 of your sea time as a "watch standing member of the deck force."--Ron
