a sunfish is a small boat, these are great boats. What type of sailing are you going to do? Around the markers? Cruising and such?

Both sail well, perhaps a few points to the First, as it is a First (the racing series, as opposed to the Oceanis). I have owned both maker's boats at one time and can say that, either will serve you well. If you lean more to cruising, I would opt for the space and comfort of the 30i, more to racing then the First.

Either boat of that vintage may need some repairs, so make sure to get a survey and be prepared to replace some bits and pieces.

2009 boats should not need much repair unless they have been mistreated.

sprios;

Your caption said small sailing boat. What actual size are you looking for as the two you mentioned in a way would be classed into intermediate size boats.

Men tend to think things are larger than they really are. Women tend to think things don't take as long to do as they usually do. I opt for the sunfish.

The Jeanneau is a larger boat and is basically a cruiser.

I've sailed on the First 27.7 and it is a BLAST. Very quick in particular off the wind. Much less room on the Jeanneau. Deep draft lifting keel if that matter to you.

Need room and comfort? Jeanneau.
Wanna go fast? Beneteau.
