Hire a good marine surveyor to go over...

your prospective boat and all of its systems thoroughly. Use their report to determine whether this is the boat for you and your needs. If so, then go sailing and have fun. Good luck and let us know the outcome. Terry

A couple of items........

Check to see if the hose from the head to the holding tank is (is not ) permeated with odor. It's a tough job to replace the hose. Go for a sail(motor, actually) and see if there is (is not) a signifigant amount of "pull" to port (if I remember correctly, it could be starboard) when you let go of the wheel. My 376 would imediatly go to a full lock turn and drive in circles if I let it. Weather helm can be signifigant. Understand it and know about it before buying the boat. I liked my 376 enough to buy the same boat again when I went to a 386 Good luck. Post back with specific questions if you have any........ Jeff

take the surveyor along...

...on your test sail. That way he/she can check out the systems as they operate, and can spot any performance issues you should know about. Don't assume he will go along unless you make special arrangements.... Sanders

Use the survey

as a negotiating tool. If the boat is generally OK and meets you needs, the any areas of concern discovered during the survey and sea trial can be used to negotiate the terms of the final deal. The goal is reduce the price by the amount needed to fix the problems.

Engine survey too

either separate or included if your surveyor is qualified to do so.
