Buyers broker recommendation in San Diego

My wife and I are retired and moving to San Diego and are interested in using a buyers broker to help with the purchase of our sailboat. We're looking at anything in good shape from 30' to 36', older but well maintained.

Since this is our first purchase like this, we feel it would be a huge benefit to have someone in the area who is helping to look out for our best interests, can help with the paperwork, and knows what actual selling prices in the area have been.

Any recommendations on brokers that you've had dealings with in the San Diego area would be appreciated. Feel free to PM if you'd prefer.

You probably already have, but keep an eye on Craigslist... every once in awhile a real gem pops up. A couple months ago there was a Wauquiez Centurion 32 that was listed for $28K and my jaw nearly hit the floor. It looked to be in darn near Bristol condition... I never did take a look at it in person. Anyway, there are a few sellers who have time and don't want to give up a percentage to a broker, so keep an eye out.

Thanks for the suggestion. We've been keeping an eye on Craigslist, and it can be surprising what comes up, but as usual, timing seems to be everything.

I am skeptical of buyer's brokers. Isn't their livelihood based on commission? The higher price you pay the bigger their commission.
