I have the opportunity to buy a damaged C22 for cheap. It has a lot of things I need. I either need to buy a trailer to get it home and then flip it, or put my boat in a slip for a while use my trailer to strip the boat and then salvage it. Does anyone have a trailer for sale near Sacramento Ca? Or, does anyone know where I could salvage the boat after its stripped? I would also like any advice or opinions on what to do with the boat. By way of more information on the boat, the damage is not that bad (see the pictures). My plans are to either keep all of the best stuff from both boats and put just enough stuff on the damaged boat to make it complete and flip it, or to just keep everything and salvage the hull. What do you guys think?

I would not waste money and time on the second boat - except to acquire it for cheap (& good) parts that you can use. Time restoring the second hull will probably not do anything except cost time, money and more importantly, sailing time. Trailers have their own financial risk and are hard to find.

Can you get a guest tie or mooring for a few days while you move the other boat? Can you block up the parts boat cheaply off the trailer? Do have, or could you beg or borrow a big anchor and anchor your current boat for a short time to move the parts boat? You live near 'arms of the sea', I think that there is some right of navigation that allows anchoring whilst 'engaged in navigation' - and you would find some way to be 'navigating' (sailing;)), right?

I wasn't thinking of doing anything to the second boat in order to "flip" it. I was just going to sell it for what I paid or a little less (since I'm getting the parts I need). My dilemma is/will be two boats and one trailer. Don't know of any way to block it up to store it and don't have the room either. However, the anchoring it out in the delta is an interesting idea. I think I'll look into that.

So here's what happened. I bought the "parts boat". From it I got: a full set of interior cushions that have recently been recovered in (?) Sunbrella. Two Lewmar 8’s for the cockpit and 1 Lewmar 6 for the jib halyard on top of the cabin. Harken cam cleats and risers for the sheets. Halyards led aft, with deck organizer and cam cleats. CD improved mast step with mast plate including blocks for halyards and a couple more I haven’t quite figured out what they’re for. A whisker pole and track for the mast. Upgraded standing rigging. The ones from CD with the open turnbuckles. A Harken split backstay setup, Main reefing setup and topping lift setup. I also got 3 mainsails (all with slugs), and 4 headsails. There is everything from a storm jib to a 150 Genoa. I also swapped the rudder and tillers on the boats. The one on the parts boat had the heavy duty straps and pintels. It also had a nicer tiller. Other odds and ends include a new table (my original one was left out in the rain) a Windex, sparfly, a mast antenna, anchor light, sail cover, boat hook, fenders and a heavy duty stainless motor mount. I put my original boat in a marina while I was stripping the parts boat, which was on the trailer at my house. I then spent 3 weekends at the marina swapping out parts. I took all of the old stuff and just put it in the cabin of the parts boat, not reassembling anything. I bought the parts boat for $685.00. I just sold it last week for $500.00! Not only did I get all that stuff for $185.00, but I now have a better appreciation of how all of these pieces are installed and work together. I also got three great weekends in the Sacramento Delta, met some new friends and got to do a little sailing after she was all put back together! Not a bad deal in my book. :D
