I own a 1985 Hunter 31 with a Merriman/Yacht Specialties sterring pedestal. The bracket that attaches to the upper end of the shifter lever has broken off inside thte plastic housing. Do I have ANY hope of finding a replacement part? Thanks, Ken

try a machine shop.

Ken: Take the upper part of the pedestal apart and remove the part. Take the part to a machine shop. Most of these guys can make anything in the world.

Merriman pedestal part

I too have an '85 H31, and I think you are describing the same part I replaced. The part I replaced was that which sits atop the binnacle that the shift and throttle levers fit through, below the compass mounting housing. Joe Constance machine shop (Western U.S.) apparently bought the molds from Merriman, and makes this part in aluminum. I bought this piece and installed it two years ago and it has worked fine. At the time, their phone number was 425-438-1161. The part was $160 shipping.
