Nice area...

good regional airport, close to lots of other things, about average for expense compared to the whole state, sailing is pretty good except in heat of summer, seems to have a "bull's eye" on it relating to hurricane strikes, but hey it's central Florida!!!

Hurrican Protected Harbor

I was at the marina yesterday and people at the docks said a lot of boaters come there for protection from hurricanes. Really very nice place and nice people, habor mastor and other employees were great, price was very good. Nick

Good but busy!

I had my boat there for about a year and a half in 1990 which was before the area built out. It is a great place to sail out of, 8 or 9 miles due west to Boca Grande pass and the gulf. Now a days it is very crowded and busy out there and the road back to town is a nightmare. Fishermans Village new marina is now open right in Punta Gorda. Some times you see people renting dock space in Punta Gorda Isles as well. We almost bought a place at Burnt Store Marina in 1992 but I am so glad that we opted for PGI because of the road. Burnt Store does have haulout facilities and repair/bottom service there and it is not across Tampa Bay. Bob

Very Very Nice

My wife And I were very impressed and for Our first year down here in florida it will be good with so many other sailboaters helping us to learn the waters and making friends with other people with sailboats will be a big plus for us. When we were checking the marina out people were so friendly with helping with info it felt so good to my wife. We met a couple who offered to take us out sailing for a day while we are on vacation this week, its a great place for a new boater to learn all about the area. We are so excited to retire with our new 36 down here. Just one more season up on long Island,ny and than move in our new house in Port Charlotte, thanks to all. Nick & MaryEllen
