To continue the discussion... Our research into burgee design dictates that the design be very, very simple. Ideally, no more than two letters, three at the most. This means the design really has be based on a graphic element to have any relationship to the site. I've attached an image with the only two graphic identity elements we've got: the swoosh in our logo, and the stylized sailboat (which we haven't used in _years_). Comments?

I really like

the stylized sailboat. But then, I like everything with sailboats on them. I'm easy....

Whoa there...

That's not a design, it's just the two graphic elements next to each other! :) we'll take one or both and design something around it.

Even With the Restrictions...

...HOW should be the most prominent feature. Suggestion: Maybe a Yellow/Gold background (cloth - half yellow/gold and half white with the HOW letters on it. FWIW, hoping that would not exceed your requirements.

I disagree Paul...

We are Sailboat Owners, not Hunter Owners. Maybe Phil can have one for each site, but all I want is the SBO burgee. Phil... I like just the way it is. Other boaters will ask about it and then one can give the whole story of Sailboatowners.com. I'd leave it just the way it is in the first graphic you posted.

My 2 cents

I have a staff of 12 graphic designers and for what it's worth, they say it's not bold enough to be seen when flown 20 or 30 feet above the water and viewed from another boat at a distance. FWIW :)

Phil...

how 'bout a window sticker with the final SBO design to stick on the inside of your car/truck/SUV/boat window to go with the burgee? Clear background, approx. 4" square or 3"x4" rectangle...

Simple

I think the simple sail graphic works if bolded some. Glad you didn't ask for color recommendations... :} Rick D.

I like Byron Thomas' layout. Keep it the same colors on a white background but maybe bolder as suggested. When can I get one?? Tom s/v Orion's Child

I like Bryon Thomas suggestion ...

I think the swoosh looks great as the wave to the hull of the boat. For that reason, I think that "SailBoatOwners.com" could work as the hull of the boat. I love the stylized sails so I hope they are definitely included. I like the relationship between the swoosh and the word written out, so I think it could work like that on the burgee (even if the conventional wisdom says limit the lettering). I especially like the blue and the red that you use on the heading to this site. The blue background (like just to the left of this window) would be my favorite. With white, I guess it would be a 3-color burgee. I am sure it is necessary to limit the colors. Even if you can't read "SailBoatOwners.com" from afar, it could still represent a stylized hull, and at the dock or on the mooring, it represents well. Just my crazy idea ... I like the thoughts so far so I'm looking forward to it! Scott
