Bunks or Rollers

Okay, here's a trailer question. I have an E-Z loader trailer for my O-23. It is equipped with rollers for the keel, and two sets of rollers on each side to support the hull. These are on posts about 2 foot high. This is the total support provided by the trailer.I have seen pictures of other 23's on trailers that have the extended bunk boards on the sides, rather than the rollers. Is there an advantage/disadvantage to either design? I am considering trailering my craft from Michigan to Florida over the Christmas holidays to get a few days of sailing in December. Is my trailer configuration up to the task of the long haul?I'm in the process of overhauling the trailer before the boat comes out in October. Rick -It really depends on how much of the boat is supported by the side rollers. The weight of the boat is obviously through the keel - if its not something is really not adjusted right - so the side rollers are just to keep it balanced. When you see haulers pulling large boats they have only small squares of support around the side - like jackstands. Is there any indication of oil-canning at the points the rollers intercept? If not, I'd expect you'd be good to go.Justin - O'day Owners' Web
