I am having the deck of my 1969 columbia 28 re-painted and repared. I am having trouble finding a bumper that will fit into the track that goes around the boat and seperates the deck from the hull. There is an aluminium channel inlaid between the deck and hull that can't be removed so I need somthing that will slide into the chanel which goes all the way around my boat. It is about 2 and an eighth inch in width. If anybody has any ideas or suggestions let me know. I haven't been able to find anything so far that will fit.

Maybe the place...

This may turn out to be one of the few places that get or make what you need. www.wefcorubber.com/ Take a look - they seem to be willing to create the right stuff if they don't already have it in stock. Best; Chris

Rub rail request info

I thought that Taco Aftermarket, Miami, Fla. would have something. I checked my cataalog..not quite. THey have a dock bumper, V11-0947WHA25-1 which looks like you could run through a circular table saw and remove a small amount from its overall width. Not sure how this fits into your channnel. Is it screwed in place, or is it forced into the channel and held in place by a pressure fit ? anyway, Taco says send them a sample, and theyll try to match it. THeir phone# is l=800-653-8567 . Am not sure if they are on the internet...you could try. Good luck.

Cheap Solution!

Familiar problem. Why don't you just get acouple of tubes of nice new white caulk and use a wet finger to go over the existing rail. It looks nice, I did it on mine. Save your time and energy for more important stuff.

Columbia 28 owner too

My 28's hull number is 492. I've recaulked my rub rail with 5200. I've considered changing to a teak rail but have opted out for other priorities. I'm painting my deck this year as well, and am considering interlux brightside. Any pros and cons on paint choice would be welcomed. My email is s.mignery@comcast.net. Thanks, Scott

Columbia 28 Interlux deck paint

I used the interlux on my Ericson 26 and it has been great for three years except where it has simply worn through. I am contemplating purchasing a Columbia 28. How have you liked the boat?
