Bulkhead trim in older c22

Hi
What was the material used to trim the bulkheads in older boats - leather, vinyl, something else? i have a 1977 C22 #7575 and I'm dismantling the interior. Thinking I can refinish this fabric trim with saddle soap? Any suggestions? Thanks.
BTW, we're thinking of naming our 'new' boat "JULA" for the first initials of our four grandchildren's names (Jameson, Uma, Lily, Annu).

A photo would help. The interior cushions were just fabric and foam, the bulkheads were just plywood with a teak veneer that was oiled. They had a vinyl bead where the plywood touched the liner on the bottom and side of the bulkheads to help stop squeaking noises. They had fabric curtains and a fabric curtain for the V-berth. Sounds like maybe some "personalized" your interior.

Thanks Capt Don, 'vinyl' is what I was looking for! My cushions are in great shape, just finished painting all the locker/storage covers semi-gloss white and putting three coats of Cetol on the bulkheads and teak trim. My vinyl trim is still relatively supple so I may just soak and clean. I'm amazed at what good shape the interior of the boat is after numerous owners and 38 years! Thank you for your help.

It's also not difficult to make new piping/welting to replace the old if it's cracked or mildewed. You can also get a better color match.

I wondered what the point of it was, other than compensating for imperfect edges. That makes sense.
FWIW I just removed it all. I plan on installing something else for my custom full height bulkhead simply to secure it better.

Ken.....what coating is on the wood? Pretty!

Mike, if your cushions are vinyl, someone probably had them reupholstered. I would bet Sail-Rite sells the welting material.

The cushions appear to be Sunbrella fabric - recently done I suspect. Vinyl was the material on the bulkhead that I wasn't sure of

The Vinyl trim (piping, welting) is pretty easy to remove, clean, and reinstall. The staples on mine were all rusted, so I carefully pulled them all with a small pick to lift them and needle nose pliers to pull them. This needed to be done anyway so I could varnish my bulkheads.
I cleaned them with a Vinyl cleaner/restore spray that I had left over from my old jet boat, but kept the bottle in my toy-hauler and use it on the interior vinyl in there as well. Any mild soap will work fine, saddle soap is a great idea. I also sprayed on some Aerospace Formula 303, this stuff is like Armor-All but has far better UV protection. Not really needed but I was mostly interested in making sure I got some treatment into the vinyl to keep it soft. Mine was a little faded but not brittle or cracking.
I ordered some Monel Staples off Amazon to fit my Pneumatic staple gun. Make sure you use Monel or stainless steel staples when you reattach the trim to the bulkheads. Even after several coats of varnish I could still see where the old staple holes were so I just used them as a guide and stapled the trim pretty much exactly back into the original position.
BTW, you can get Stainless Steel or Monel Staples from Amazon for standard Arrow or similar staple guns (T-50), the sizes are pretty common. I couldn't find stainless staples at Home Depot or Lowes.

That's several coats of Daly's SeaFin Teak Oil. It's slow curing but has really held up well.
