I have a 85H28.5. As I was commisioning two weeks ago, I had the cover off over the steering quadrant. As I went below into the quarter berth to get some rags I noticed daylight coming through where the overhead meets the bulkhead on the center line. Upon further inspection I have found I can see straight up through (between the bulkhead and the cabin roof, about 1") to under the pedestal. I am sure in the past the boat has been repowered because I have a Westerbeke diesel so I am thinking the previous owner had taken this apart in the past to lower the new engine in and never put it back together correctly. Can some of you 28.5 owners help me out and tell me how this is all tied together correctly on your boats? I have had this boat 3 years and have never noticed this before, but I dont go into the quarterberth to muck at all. I am thinking about drilling and bolting the head liner directly to the centerline bulkhead and sealing it. Thanks in advance Scott

28.5 Bulkhead

Scott: I had a look at my 28.5 over the weekend. The bulkhead that splits the aft berth from the starboard locker is made of a hard surfaced wood/composite material and runs tight up against the overhead FRP panel. It is topped with a brown moulding that looks like weatherstripping. The same material is used around the top of the back panel of the engine compartment. Hope this helps.
