Hi. I think your engine may have been a retrofit. I don't beleive O'Day put Bukh engines in their boats. The following is a list of models and/or brand names of engines that came as standard equipment on the O'Day 28: Universal Deisel* Westerbeke Deisel* OMC saildrive* (or other saildrives) Atomic 4's* (Or other Atomics) *: All models may have varied in horsepower from year-to-year I have never heard of ANY O'Day having a Bukh. In fact, I have never even heard of that brand. Glad to be of some help-BM
