My '74 O'Day 27 has a shallow bilge (about 4ft x 10 in x 3in) except the very aft end has a narrow but deep well. I don't know how deep because it is beneith the sole, but I'll guess 10+ inches. Since this is the deepest part, the sludge accumulates here. I can't even get a manual pump down into the well because the sole is in the way.My problem is that all the bilge pumps at the local West Marine and Boater's World draw (intake) from the bottom of the pump. I would like a pump to which I can attach an intake hose which can draw from the deep well and thus prevent the accumulation of that nasty primordial sludge (Thanks Peggy, I learned that phrase from you, and I love it).Boater's World suggested a "bait areator" pump. What do you folks think? Will it hold up to the nasty sludge?Jim Cook"Dream Chaser"
