Hey all
So I spent the past day and a half buffing and waxing my new-2-me Hunter. The port side of the boat came out ... AMAZING (I'm very happy with it) and the starboard side came out .... NICE (I'm happy but not as happy).
So here are some variables that might explain the difference and I'm wondering if y'all have any insights.
I buffed the entire boat with Maguiar's then pressure washed off the residue & dried the boat with a towel. Then I applied Nu Finish scratch doctor to the port side.... after wiping it off, I was unimpressed with the shine so I waxed it a second time with Maguiar's car wax and toweled off the dry residue. That came out AMAZING so I then applied Maguiar's to the starboard side. After removing that, it was NICE but noticeably less glossy than the port side.
Was the difference the Nu Finish pre-wax?
Or...
I did notice that the P.O. docked his boat "port-to" at the very end of a set of covered slips... so I 'm wondering if possibly the difference is not the Nu Finish but the fact that the starboard side of this boat was exposed to full sun for 21 years and the port side to partial shade? The vinyl pin-stripes on the starboard side are noticeably more worn than the port which makes me think it might be sun-damage.
I guess next spring I can try the Nu Finish on the starboard side first and see if that is the difference.
