My Hunter 33.5 was equipped with B&G Instruments including a flush mount B&G VHF at the helm. Just recently my transmit signal has become garbled and is sending chirping sounds after a few seconds of clear voice transmission. Does anybody know if this could be a problem with my mast-top antenna?I've checked all other connections, including a new plug on the Mic and they appear dry and no corrosion.Any help in trouble shooting this is appreciated.Capn' BrentS/V Elena Luahttp://www.elenalua.homestead.com

Battery connection.

A low voltage or poor connection will cause that. It takes quite a few more amps to transmit. Your house batteries are probably fine but a bad radio ground or corrosion in hot lead will do that. I also carry one of those cheap rail mount antennas as a backup. You could try that to eliminate the mast antenna as the problem.
