I broke a toggle switch off on my control panel today. Is this something that's replaceable? If so HOW and HOW do I get one? Or HOW do I fix it?

Switch replacement

The 23 switch panel is pretty cheesey to begin with. I replaced mine with a 6 switch/fuse panel from West Marine. It's basicly plug and play except for the panel screw locations. Those old plastic switches are tired.

Agree with Greg

I replaced the switch panel on my 23 also; In addition, I added a master disconnect switch and a second panel (I have lots of spare switches, and a long list of christmas ideas -er, electrical toys I'd like to install eventually... ) I plan to post pictures of my installation to the photo forum later this week, along with some of the other 'improvements' I've made to my 23. --Jon Bastien H23 '2 Sheets to the Wind'

I broke one of mine a while back too, but...

I haven't bothered to replace it because it is the switch for the cabin lights. I use a 6V lantern to light the boat instead. It uses less current and is MUCH brighter. However, I guess I oughtto look at the panel for 2 good reasons: 1) I could break another one that is more important (running lights...??) 2) the panel is not in a great place,a nd it would be nice to have a master disconnect. I could also see it getting splahed in the rain or on a real nasty day going to weather. Good post Mike, now I got a new project to think about, especially since I do a fair amount of night sailing. Thanks! Peter

Super Glue

A chum fell against my panel and broke two of the white plastic toggles off. He also gashed his hand so they must have been quite tough. They broke off almost flush with the panel and I just stuck them back on with super glue. All this was months ago and now we cannot tell which ones were broken.

Gave myself a break

I got annoyed with the toggle switches on my h23 after the 2nd one broke. I went to West M. and found a nice 6 rocker switch panel that fits very nicely on the switch box, with lights in the rocker switches that illuminate when that switch is on. No more switch problems, and I can tell if a circuit is on even in the dark. As far as water getting in the panel, in all the years I've had the boat, and all the times driping wet kids have stood or sat over it, I've never had a problem. Jim Kolstoe, h23 Kara's Boo
