Broken stays in sail

Another newbie question.

I just bought a '88 Hunter 18.5 and the stays (?) in the mainsail are broken. Can I epoxy them back together? Or if not, where can I buy new stays?

They're called battens. Do an online search or WM or Defender.

Sailrite hooked me up with a replacement for my Hunter. Just need to know the demensions and they send you the stock to make your own.
