Broken Stanchion

Hi there! Had a stanchion on a 1998 Hunter 340 break over winter in bad storm. All four 1/4 in bolts sheared off so its just hanging on life lines. No apparent deck damage. Anyone know if I can just drill the bolts out and replace (I'm hoping the nut at other end is mounted somehow into structure). Or am I looking at tougher repair? Thanks. Peter: It just depends. Many times Hunter has imbedded an alum. plate under the areas where they place hardware. Other times they through bolt these items.

I would check down below first to see if there are nuts and backing plates/washers. If not, you may want to check out an easy-out or some such device that can help you remove the screws. I have also been successful with channel locks if there is any of the bolt showing.
