I was getting ready to launch today when I realized I had broken a spreader. I was sliding my mast off the trailer when I obviously caught the spreader on something. I got home and searched the chandlery here for a replacement. It wasn't listed so I e-mailed customer service to see if they can get it for me. I have to wait until Monday for the office to open to find out. If the chandlery can't get it, do you think I can get it direct from Hunter? I realize this was my own fault, but I am hoping it doesn't put me out of service for too long. I've been braving the hot weather down south and sailing regurlarly. I don't want to miss that brief period between 100 degree days and sub 45 degree winter.

Yep. Hunte can get it.

LSU Kid, Yes, just about any Hunter dealer can get you the spreader. That seems to be a common thing to happen on these boats as I have seen several threads on the subject. Don't quote me, but I think the price, if I remeber, is somewhere around $30 plus shipping. Sorry to hear about your mishap. Hopefully you will be back on the water soon. Later, Tim Hayes

45 Degree winters????

Wow, 45 degree winters! We can only hope for winters like that, if we're lucky Lake Erie doesn't freeze over until January. However lake temperature is now 74 degrees, amazing what happens when Lake Erie is only 60 feet deep! Good luck with your repair.

Much appreciated

I appreciate the responses and support. Breadman, If you want to get rid of that extra spreader you have, I will purchase it from you regardless of which side it is. I like having spare parts around. Just in case I do this again. Let me know if you want to get rid of it and I'll give you my e-mail or cell number or something so we can discuss. And Steve, Yea it gets cold down here. by November, sometimes December we'll be wearing long sleeves and a jacket almost every day. It doesn't warm up again until the end of February. The down side of that weather trend means it is "unable to take a breath hot" the rest of the year.

Go to Hunter directly

When I broke a spreader, I called Hunter directly and they sold me one for $20something and then FedExed it to me (for almost as much as what I paid for the spreader), but I got it next day and only missed a day of sailing.

Final

The local chandlery notified me that they do not offer any standing rigging, and advised me to contact retail sales at hunter direct. They supplied the phone number and extension for retail sales and the order for my replacement spreader was complete. I'm not sure about the cost of shipping, but he quoted me the price for the spreader as 20 or 21 dollars. I don't remember. Anyway, I'm happy to be on my way to fixing it and sailing again.
