I am looking for my first sale boat and have found a 1977 Mariner 2+2 in need of some TLC. The price seems cheap, but I want to make sure that I can find a replacement mast as the current one is in two pieces. Any information on cost and availability of a replacement mast would be appreciated. I don't want to end up with a sail boat with no sailing capability.

Hi Ron, I have a mast that you may be able to use. It's oblong in cross-section with approx. a 9" circumference. If you like, I'll cut a 1" tall piece of cross-section and mail it to you. Email me at srayneri@bellsouth.net.

Replacement Mast

Ron usually getting a replacement isn't to hard no matter what type of boat. You can always cut one to size and drill and rivet the fittings. As long as they are somewhat close in diameter. We replaced my friends Montgomery 17 mast with a length of hobie cat mast and it worked fine.
