RigRite?

Have you tried RigRite? (I'm assuming you already contacted Hunter directly.) They have parts for many of the spars used by Hunter early on. If you know who made the mast, you can match the cross section and might be able to get a replacement.

No need ...

...to replace it. The "chip" is hidden under the mast that slips over the collar. The entire collar simply holds the mast in place. The small piece that is missing will have no effect on the stability of the mast.

Base of mast step question

I am not familiar with that mast step-- it appears to have the halyard turning blocks built into the base, as in the Selden sections. Maybe you can shed some light on this-- is that actually stock?. You may not need to replace this cracked part, but I would wonder why it cracked in the first place. First-stage (superficial) corrosion looks pretty well advanced here (possibly due to mismatching metals). If this thing broke merely through use (and not deliberately whacked HARD with a hammer), it will probably break again. I enquired of Rig-Rite for a cast-aluminum mast step for my Kenyon 3625 spar (H25 Mk.1). After some pause on the other line I was given a number of $265. After ringing off I realized they were quoting an entirely new casting from the patterns they had at some foundary-- there were no extant parts in-stock. I devised my own fabricated part which I am having made at a local machine/fab shop. It incorporates attachments for halyard blocks and will sit on top of a 'glass bolster to inhibit water entry around the base. When I get this back and installed I will provide pics (and parts, if H-25/3625 people want them). This part would not work for your spar because of that halyard-block base; the spar would be too short, but I offer this by way of illustrating that there are solutions even if you have to make it yourself. not shure if its stock or not

This is my first sailboat, ( cant ya tell!) so im not shure if this is the one that came from hunter or an after market, I went to the marina to look for any name or part # on the mast or the step, but the lock on the gate was not working , ill find out why and look tomorrow and post. This boat had quite a bit of damage, i dont think it sunk, but did take on water, the boom has a slight bend to it, think i can fix that. i have taken out most all the wood and have it finished, all the wiring and plumbing is now working except the head. Thanks to everyone for responding so fast and greaty info .

yep,, its stock

I talked to hunter today, and its a Kenyon. Hunter rep didnt think their would be a problum using this one, ill remove this one ( part # should be on the bottem) and call rig right , depending on price decide on buying a new one or just getting this one powder coated . i need spreader bars and all the plastic hangers for the sail anyway. in the pic the surface looked bad but i used some light sandpaper and it cleaned up great no really bad piting so i think its prety sound other than looks and that pice broken Thanks to all of you, been a big help! you got to love this place!
